Minutes from the 19th of Nov, 2008 Meeting
Meeting was CALLED TO ORDER at 707PM by Director Mike Anderson
ROLL CALL: 8 officers present, Activities Director vacant, 1 absent
READING OF THE MINUTES: Minutes for Oct 08 were read, motion made to accept the minutes as read by Eddie and
second by Jo Jo.
INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS: 12 guests
OFFICER & COMMITTEE REPORTS:
1. Director (Mike Anderson): Addresses for Christmas cards to soldiers at Walter Reed “Holiday Mail for Hero’s”. Mr.
Robert Washington III who sang God Bless America has been asked to be an ambassador for People to People
expenses are by donation. Jo Jo made a motion to give 50.00 dollars to Mr. Washington and Victor second the
motion, motion passed. Bob also donation his 50/50 winnings of 31.50 to Mr. Washington. Mike also had copies of
the new by-laws for members, and a list of store closing for members to review.
2. Assistant Director (Russell Collins): Watch out for rebate checks sent in the mail they are bouncing.
Nominations/Voting for New Members: Bart Digiuglielmo, Thomas
Winston Jr. and Annette Winston.
Bart Digiuglielmo was voted in motion made by Jo Jo and second by
Vonnie.
3. Activity Director: Vacant
4. Secretary/Treasurer (Lisa Collins): Checking: $1606.73 Expenditures: None
Fisher House Account: 619.01
Pat motioned to accept the treasure report, seconded by Rob.
Secretary report: Many thanks from the United We Care toy ride on Oct 25, 2008, Fisher House T-Shirt sales
were $2,134.00, Domestic Violence Abuse (Safe homes of Augusta) Mr. Rebeck and Ms, Jarrell wanted to thank the
ALR for donating 47 pairs of PJ’s for the children on Nov 18, 2008. On Nov 11, 2008 at the American Legion Meeting,
there were two veterans being misplaced from Milledgeville, Mr. Avery has been completed in the items he needed,
Mr. Reynolds is currently in process we should have his needs covered on Nov 23, 2008. There was a third name
give Mr. Farris at this time we do not know what his needs are. If you would like to help with these veterans needs
please contact Lisa or Pat. The Christian’s Biker Touch of Class donated a leather jacket to raffle off for the Fisher
House we currently have $118.00 dollars the winning ticket will be pulled at the next meeting on Dec 17, 2008
5. Sergeant at Arms (Eddie Ernst): Art did an excellent job on Fisher House, also Art was commended on his lead for
the MIA Run.
6. Historian (George Robinson): Absent - excused
7. Safety Officer (John Freeman): Reaction time is slow and there are added dangers on the road during the winter
season. Watch out for ice during the cold weather. Mr. Gregory Chavis passed out stickers for your helmets in case
of emergency contact information.
8. Run Captain (Mike Latka): Nothing at this time, I am here for you. Bob asked about the 1 Saturday run for
December. Mike stated he would work on it; Mike Anderson made a statement about no more Saturday rides. The
parliamentarian corrected the Director and the decision was made to floor this issue until the Jan 2009 meeting.
9. Parliamentarian (Rob Roberts); New members need to get a copy of the current bylaws. There is an alert roster
currently in progress. There will be three squad’s to contact members. Holiday meals with soldiers were explained
you must go thru the PAO to invite a group of soldiers to dinner you may invite one solider yourself.
10. Chaplain (Vonnie Shaffer):
SICK CALL: Update on Judy Whittle home and doing well. Update on Jerry Singer is working with Walton Rehab
and is improving.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Mr. Pat made a motion to purchase a flag there was discussion on the matter, the cost of the
flag. The cost could not be furnished last night Rob then made a motion to floor this issue until Jan 2009 meeting and
Eddie second the motion. First Saturday ride was also floored until the Jan 2009 meeting.
NEW BUSINESS & GOOD OF THE ALR: The post commander of the American Legion wanted to welcome the
American legion riders and is looking forward to working with us.
ANNOUNCEMENTS AND DRAWINGS:
50/50: $31.50 Winner: Bob
Announcements: Gary Thomson presented the ALR with a certificate of appreciation for all there hard work at
the Blythe in raising funds for a memorial. Art Robb present certificates of appreciation to Ruby, Buffie, Jerald, Jack,
Tammy and Jessie for all of there assistance with Roaring Thunder. Mr Robb also presented Rob, the brothers, and
Lisa with certificates for there assistance with Roaring Thunder. Mr Robb stated that Mr. Butt and the ALR were
invited to the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Warrior Trans Unit if you wish to attend kick stand up at 915 at the BP
station located on Jimmy Dyess Parkway on the 22 of Nov 2008. Mike Anderson will be cooking turkeys for the post
thanksgiving dinner if you would like to help contact Mike. Pat gave out the following information, District Meetings at
Post 66 at 1200 on the 13 Dec 2008, District meetings at Post 205 at 10am on the 14th of Dec 2008, ALR covered
dish post Christmas party at 7pm. Blue goose Christmas party veterans will be served dumplings and sweet potatoes
on the 18 Dec, 2009 from 11am to 2pm. Dec 21, 2008 children’s Christmas party from 2-4pm. Dec 24, the lounge will
close at 10pm. Dec 31 there will be a band from 830pm until 1230 pm.
